Q: How Can Police Station Representation be Free?

As legal aid stands at the moment, anyone who has been arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal offence and the police intend to interview that person, are entitled to free & independent legal advice and representation. It is NOT a means tested entitlement. In order to provide this FREE service the firm of solicitors must have a contract with the Legal Aid Agency, which can only be obtained if the firm has passed an extensive audit demonstrating their expertise in criminal defence law.
